Bronx teacher accused of assaulting a 10-year-old student

Parents with kids at M.S. 390 are upset Thursday over not being notified that a teacher at the school was arrested Wednesday.

Jose Garcia, 47, is accused of assaulting a 10-year-old student. Police were called to the school after Garcia broke up a fight in the cafeteria and then allegedly attacked one of the student's involved. He's accused of threatening the boy while placing him in a chokehold.

Some parents say the school should have notified them on the day of the incident. Teachers and students were shocked by the news and say he has a reputation for being very calm.
