Tax time comes again for Bronx residents

For many local residents, January means one thing, the start of the tax season.

Experts say that it is never too early to get started on your tax return. Tax advisors say there are several things to consider to keep things simple They recommend pulling all paperwork together such as W2 forms, then choose a filing status. They say make sure to select an appropriate tax form, which is based on age and income levels. Finally consider whether you wish to take the standard deduction or to itemize your deductions.

Accountants say that charitable donations and the money spent for a job are all deductible expenses. If you wish for more help, the IRS recommends hiring a qualified tax professional.

The IRS says that April 15th falls on a Saturday this year, so the deadline for filing has been extended to Monday April 17th.
