Bronx students say their grades have improved after joining CitySquash team
Some young Bronx residents are playing a rare sport and getting better grades at the same time. CitySquash, which has produced some of the country?s top ranked young squash players, is the only team of its kind in the Bronx. In order to make the team, middle school students are required to take exams and write essays to show they will make the commitment the program requires. Students say their grades have gone up 6 percent since joining the team. Not only do the students play at their home court at Fordham University, they also travel across the country competing in tournaments.
