NYPD launches initiative to get illegal guns off Bronx streets

The NYPD is stepping up efforts to take guns off Bronx streets after stray bullets struck two children Monday. Police are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest regarding an illegal gun. Residents say they hope this initiative will help because the number of guns has them worried for their safety. Anyone with information about either of the two shootings is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. To anonymously report an illegal handgun, residents can call 1-866-GUN-STOP.
