Fire officials investigate cause of brush fire in Soundview Park

The cause of a brush fire in Soundview Park is under investigation.

Authorities got calls about the blaze around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters say it took 40 of them to put out the fire. Authorities believe trash in the area, such as old tires and papers, caused the flames to spread. Firefighters also say hydrants were several hundred feet away from the scene, further hindering their efforts.

The officials cause of the fire is under investigation, but neighbors say it might have been caused by someone burning trash.
