Suspect in fatal Morris Heights shooting charged with murder
The man who turned himself in to police Monday has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a 2-year-old in Morris Heights on Easter Sunday. Nicholas Morris, 26, who surrendered after speaking with News 12 The Bronx Monday is charged with murder, manslaughter and weapons possession. Morris maintains his innocence saying he was not involved in the shooting of David Pacheco Jr., who was hit by a stray bullet while sitting in his family?s minivan. Police say they searched Morris? apartment and found a rifle and a pistol. Morris admits the weapons are his, but insists he didn't have anything to do with shooting. Police say they are still looking for suspect Ronneil Gilliam. As the investigation continues, a makeshift memorial with candles, balloons and notes stands outside the apartment building where the toddler lived. A wake is being held for the child on Thursday and Friday at the Eternity Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday. Related Story
