Defense attorney says witness lied in slaying of toddler in Morris Heights

? The lawyer for a man who was indicted Thursday in the shooting death of a toddler in Morris Heights says the prosecution?s star witness lied.

Nicholas Morris? lawyer claims the witness who identified Morris as the shooter also named another person. A grand jury indicted Morris, 26, on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. Morris maintains his innocence.

He allegedly fired the fatal shot that hit 2-year-old David Pacheco Jr. inside a minivan on Easter.
