P.S. 23 evicted from Bronx Community College campus

Students and faculty at P.S. 23 may have no where to go in September after receiving an eviction notice from the Bronx Community College.
P.S. 23?s principal says the elementary school, which is home to 130 students, has been on BCC?s campus for 13 years. The principal and parents are calling the eviction unfair. Parents say special education programs and small classes are some of the reasons they do not want the school to go.
BCC officials say the move is necessary to accommodate a dramatic growth in student enrollment. The principal of P.S. 23 says the school has to be out of the BCC building by June 30. BCC officials say this is because they have hired new staff for next year and need the building right away.
It is still unknown if and when the school will find a new home.
