Police increase patrols in Allerton to protect deliverymen
Bronx residents who deliver food in Allerton say they have had a difficult year and now police are increasing their patrols to protect the deliverymen.
Those who deliver food say they are often victims of robberies and assault. With the help of Community Board 11, the local precinct got involved. There are now more undercover and uniform police patrols in the area to look out for the safety of deliverymen.
Police urge deliverymen to go on only one delivery at a time and carry as little money as possible. Residents who order deliveries are also urged to give as many details as possible when giving addresses and directions.
