No one taking responsibility for broken elevator in BX apartment building
Tenants of an apartment building on the Grand Concourse are blaming the owner for a broken elevator but the owner is blaming the residents.
Some tenants in the six-story building say the elevator is constantly breaking down. Many add they have gotten accustomed to taking the stairs. The tenants claim the building?s owner is slacking and needs to shape up and fix the elevator permanently. However, the building?s owner, Michael Laub, claims the tenants vandalize the elevator by pulling off buttons and urinating in the cars.
According to the Department of Buildings, Laub is responsible for the repairs and all the department can do is fine him. Laub has received several citations for the broken elevator and the buildings department says he has not appeared in court for any of the violations.
