American wins GHI Bronx Tennis Classic
Not since Marty Fish walked away with the title four years, ago has there been an American champion at the GHI Bronx Tennis Classic. That changed when Michael Russell defeated Paul Capdeville of Chile, 6-0, 6-2 Sunday to win the championship. Fans saw Russell dominate the 8th seed, delivering scorching serves and blistering backhands. In the ladies final, second-seeded Russian Olga Poutchkova faced her cousin, eighth-seeded Tatiana Poutchek. Poutchkova won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
