Mount Eden businesses struggle to say afloat as fatal fire investigation continues
Mount Eden merchants complained Sunday they are losing thousands as the city continues to curtail traffic around a 99-cent store where a blaze killed two firefighters.Juan Peguero, who owns D?Juan Fashion, says he?s already lost $10,000 since the city rerouted traffic along E. Mount Eden Road. Other business owners say they have been struggling too. Though traffic was freed up to move westbound last Friday, eastbound traffic is still restricted, impacting some businesses more than others.Eddie Mohamed, president of the Mount Eden Merchants Association, says he?s unable to get a response from the mayor?s office about the delay. He says every time he calls he?s promised that a representative will visit the site but that person never shows.Related Information:NYC's bravest gather to honor veteran firefighter killed in Bronx fire
