Some residents in a Clinton Avenue building want something done about the condition of their apartments.
According to the Buildings Department, the owner of the Clinton Avenue building is facing severe fines for the 1,000 violations inside. Tenants say some of the apartments have moldy walls, no lights, collapsed walls and broken windows. The residents add that for four weeks there has been no hot water because oil is not being delivered to the building. According to the residents, the post office will no longer deliver mail because the mailboxes are broken.
The Housing Preservation Department says it has done several emergency repairs on the building and billed the owner for more than $120,000. Department officials add that they have a civil case against the landlord.
