Double-parking headaches from some Bronx residents

Some Bronx residents say double-parking is one of the most frustrating parts of driving around the borough.

There are regulations for who can double-park and when, however, some say the rules are often ignored. According to city officials, commercial vehicles are allowed to double park if they meet certain requirements. One of the requirements is that deliverymen must work expeditiously to load and unload. But some residents say they see trucks double-parked for several hours.

Many Bronx residents say they have resigned themselves to having to deal with the problem of double-parking. Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation emphasizes that it is not in charge of enforcing the regulations. Transportation officials say that traffic police are responsible for enforcing the rules.
