Budget boost means Bronx developers will build under watchful eye

Developers will now build in the Bronx under closer supervision thanks to a financial boost to the Department of Buildings (DOB).

The city is giving the DOB an additional $2.5 million to hire more inspectors, better screen developers? applications and pay for overtime to cover worksite visits.

Councilman James Vacca (D-Bronx), who supports the budget increase, says developers must be watched so they don?t disregard zoning laws and build bigger.
