Transit police are cracking down on Bronx and city straphangers who walk between both moving and stopped subway cars.

According to a Newsday report, a record 2,700 summonses have been issued for moving between subway cars in the first nine months of the year. The report says that number is nearly four times the total number of similar tickets that were written last year. Bronx subway riders who get caught changing cars could face a $75 fine. Transit officials say the rule against walking between cars was put in place for safety reasons.

Meanwhile, transit police have also been issuing tickets for other reasons. Some of those reasons include taking up more than one seat and bringing unauthorized pets on board without the proper container.
