Search intensifies for driver in City Island hit-and-run accident

Police and family members are stepping up the search for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that left a City Island woman in critical condition last week.Family members of Virginia West have lined the streets of City Island Avenue with posters asking anyone with information on the accident to come forward. Rumors about the investigation are swirling around the tight-knit community as police have still been unable to track down the driver. The family is offering a reward, hoping that may encourage people to come forward.Police say they are looking for a white or off-white car with massive damage to the front end. They also say the side mirror would be cracked or completely broken off. Anyone with information is asked to call the City Island Police Department.Related Information:
