Man shoots son, wife in suspected Van Cortlandt Park murder-suicide

A man shot his young son, wife and then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in Van Cortlandt Park Friday, according to police.

A maintenance worker found the dead couple outside of a vehicle. He also found their dead child strapped in a car seat and a gun at the scene. The worker called 911 around 8 a.m. Investigators believe the man shot his 5-year-old son in the face first, then shot his wife in the head as she tried to escape.

According to police sources, the family does not have a history of domestic violence, but an argument may have sparked the shooting. Authorities have not released the victims? names.
