Bronx golf course construction put on hold once again

The New York City Parks Department announced they are firing the developer that was supposed to be in charge of building a new golf course in the Bronx. The developer of Ferry Point Park Golf Course said unforeseen environmental and site contamination made it too costly for him to finish the project. However, park advocates say the developer knew the site was an old garbage dump, so he should not have been surprised to find toxins. Officials from the NYC Parks Department says they will now hire a new developer to finish the multi-million dollar course. The golf course has been under construction for the past eight years. It was originally schedule to be completed in 2001. Officials say they now hope to have it completed by 2009.
