Parents battle Edgewater Park co-op over son's makeshift memorial
A co-op board feels it?s time for grieving parents to find a new home for their son?s memorial in an Edgewater Park parking lot.
Co-op officials cite a lack of parking and problems with snow removal as the reasons. The makeshift memorial has been in the parking lot for eight years, ever since the 22-year-old was shot and killed there in 1998. The victim?s parents refuse to remove it, saying the board is callous.Neighbors are torn over the issue. Some say it?s a matter of the heart and the family is not being practical while others say the memorial isn?t bothering anyone.
