Parkchester neighborhood mulls fate of abandoned turkey factory
Some Parkchester residents are thankful a turkey factory closed its doors for good, but now they have a wish list of what they?d like to see take its place.
The community fought to close down the L.S.K. factory, saying it emitted a foul smell and caused respiratory problems. Neighbors say now that the factory has moved to New Jersey, they have big plans for the vacant lot. Some popular suggestions include a day care center or children?s museum.
Community leaders say without a buyer, it?s too early to tell what will become of the factory. Residents say they will be happy with the decision as long as a busy shopping center doesn?t take its place.
