Belmont father cops to baby's fatal beating, police say
Investigators say the Belmont man who was arraigned Sunday in his 3-month-old daughter?s death confessed to hitting the baby?s head up to five times.Lawrence Johnson, 25, faces murder and manslaughter charges in the case. Authorities say they found Jayla Johnson unconscious Friday in her Belmont apartment. A medical examiner says she died from blunt force trauma to the head, which caused her brain to hemorrhage.
News 12 The Bronx has learned Johnson was arrested twice for domestic abuse against the child?s mother, but she dropped the charges. Police say two other young children lived in the apartment. The Administration for Children?s Services (ACS) is investigating the case.Related Information
