Armed teen killed in NYPD shooting at BX building
A 18-year-old man is dead after being shot by the NYPD Wednesday night.Police say four officers approached Timur Person and three others at 1240 Walton Avenue. They say that's when the men ran and the officers chased Person into the building's lobby. Officers say a scuffle took place and that was when he was shot. Police say Person was carrying a gun, but did not fire it. Witnesses have said police shot Person four times at close range. Community leaders say they are outraged over the shooting. According to some residents, Person tried to give his gun to the officers before he was shot. They also claim the police shooting was excessive force. Person was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was just days away from celebrating his 19th birthday.
