(12/18/06) THE BRONX ? Tom Spina?s second go-around as head coach of the Maritime men?s basketball program has come to an end with his resignation.

Spina, a ?94 Maritime graduate, previously ran the program in 1996 before returning for the start of the 2005-2006 season. In a year and a half, the Privateers have compiled a 7-25 record. Maritime quickly named a replacement in Ed Leonard, a 1996 Maritime graduate. Leonard joined Spina?s staff last season as an assistant. This will be his first head coaching job.

Leonard faces a tough first test as the Privateers get ready to take on Division I Army up at West Point. Maritime lost to Army 53-36 last year.
