Cardinal Egan makes Christmas visit to Mott Haven children

Disadvantaged Bronx children met Cardinal Edward Egan, who came baring gifts, at a Mott Haven center Thursday.

Cardinal Egan visited the Mercy Center to give out more than 100 presents, which were donated from Roman Catholic organizations. The kids, ages 3 to 6, greeted the cardinal with a performance of a children?s song.

The cardinal says he was honored to visit Mercy Center because it provides essential services to the community. The center offers English as a second language classes, business training, parenting classes and more.
