Community takes fight against guns, violence to Soundview streets

Soundview community members took their anti-violence message to the streets to raise awareness.

The group Soundview Community in Action organized Saturday?s march to get the mayor and NYPD?s attention. Residents complain the city isn?t doing enough to curb violence. They point to the recent arrest of two boys in connection to their grandmother?s shooting death. Although the boys insist the shooting was accidental, residents say it?s inexcusable.

The NYPD reports a decrease in crime in the city, but marchers say drugs, gangs and gunplay plague Soundview.
