From neighborhoods bursting with culture to enlightening museums, more tourists are choosing the Bronx and the city as a destination.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) says tourism is up in the city, causing an economic boom. The city estimates 44 million people from other states and around the world have stopped by the Big Apple. Tourists spent an estimated $24 billion in the city this year alone. The mayor?s goal is to attract 50 million tourists by 2015, and officials hope a new international campaign will do the trick.
One popular tourist spot includes the New York Botanical Garden. The garden features 250 acres of land, a landmark conservatory and other attractions.
