A two-alarm blaze destroyed a Hunts Point eatery on New Year?s Day and now police have one man under arrest.
A Bronx fire marshal investigating the Twin Donuts fire says the manager of the neighboring Kennedy Fried Chicken has been arrested for arson. Kabeer Ahmad is accused of punching a hole in the wall between the two businesses and spraying gasoline. The store clerk of a nearby deli called police after he saw smoke in his basement. The Kennedy Fried Chicken also suffered damage.
Representatives from Twin Donuts say they don?t have insurance, which means they don?t know when or if they'll be able to reopen. Meanwhile, fire marshalls say Ahmad confessed to setting the fire because the donut shop had starting selling chicken and was undercutting Kennedy Fried Chicken?s prices.
