Bronx boxing rookie comes out swinging in first professional fight
Maureen Shea, who recently turned pro, made her Bronx boxing debut Thursday at the Paradise Theatre.Shea took on Elizabeth Villarreal in the Super Featherweight division. The six-round fight was one of the main attractions of the night for good reason. Villarreal, former Golden Gloves runner up, was looking to improve her 8-0 with four knockouts record. However, Shea was looking to make a strong first impression in the Bronx and flexed her guns to a unanimous sixth-round victory.Shea sparred with Hilary Swank for her role in the Clint Eastwood film Million Dollar Baby.
