Car theft, Queens-to-Bronx chase sparks manhunt
The NYPD is searching for the person who allegedly led cops on a chase Monday from Queens to the Bronx in a stolen SUV.
Authorities say the suspect stole an orange Range Rover at a Queens car wash. The suspect then allegedly drove over the Whitestone Bridge, jumped a curb and tried to run over a Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority police officer. Authorities say officers chased the suspect and fired shots. The suspect got away, eventually ditching the vehicle with flat tires at Brush and Lafayette avenues in the Bronx.
Officers searched homes in the mainly industrial area, but they came up empty-handed.
