JFK Lady Knights battle Manhattan Center in charge toward hoops tourney

The John F. Kennedy High School girls team battled Manhattan Center Tuesday for a shot at the New York State Federation Basketball Tournament of Champions semifinals.

Lady Knight Veronica Ruiz racked up 17 points in the game, helping her team dominate the court. Lady Knight Kimberly Watson scored off a rebound, giving Kennedy a 33-25 lead at halftime. Tatiyia McMorris kept the momentum going, scoring 27 points. Kennedy beat Manhattan 75-65.

The Lady Knights will face Lakeland March 23 in the semifinals.
