Underdog Marist tries to knock off streaking Fordham
? The Rams deflated Marist?s high hopes for a win on the diamond in a down-to-the-wire battle in Fordham. Marist went into the game looking for a win to add to their two-win record for the season. Fordham, on the other hand, was just hoping to extend their seven-game winning streak. The Rams were leading 5-0 in the fourth inning, but Marist brought their bats to the plate to tie it in the bottom of the eighth. A single to centerfield later scored by Fordham senior Brian Keeny, giving the Rams a 6-5 lead. Pitcher James Sammut quieted any hopes for a Marist comeback in the ninth and earned his first save of the season. Fordham improved to 10-8.
