Summer Youth Police Academy accepting applications
For parents looking for ways to keep their children busy but close during the summer, the NYPD Summer Youth Police Academy may be a good option.
The academy is accepting applications for its summer program. The program begins in July and lasts seven weeks. It is held four days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It offers weeks of outdoor activities, group projects and drills.
One of the goals for the program is to establish a positive relationship between kids and police officers.
Students in the program receive lunch and a uniform shirt. The academy is held at Bronx Community College.
Applications are due Friday, June 15.
