Officers from rough era in Bronx reunite
Retired Bronx police officers from the 41st Precinct held a reunion in Throgs Neck to commemorate their time on the force.
The precinct, known as Fort Apache in the 70s, got its name after one loud evening with many complaints. One officer likened the area to Fort Apache over the radio and the name stuck.
Despite the high crime rates and dangerous beats, the officers cited the strong camaraderie on the force as a source of energy.
Current officers say the area is not as dangerous as the ?Fort Apache? days, but is still a busy area.
