Fordham legend Jack Sullivan dies at 79

Legendary Fordham Prep basketball coach Jack Sullivan died following complications from a medical procedure at the age of 79.

Sullivan, who was both a Fordham Prep and Fordham University graduate, coached the Fordham Prep squad between 1950 and 1972. During that time, he coached some of Prep?s biggest names, such as Donnie Walsh, Dr. George Zambetti and current Fordham University Athletic Director Frank McLaughlin.

About 60 of Sullivan?s players moved on to play ball for Division 1 schools. Sullivan is a member of the Catholic High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame.

Sullivan taught at Prep for 41 years. In his later days, Sullivan maintained his affiliation with the school by staying on as a scorekeeper.
