Bronx PSAL teams fight for championship spot
Two Bronx baseball teams with identical season records attempted to secure spots in the PSAL finals Wednesday, but only one of them was successful.
Taft and Jane Adams both finished their seasons with 12-4 records. Jane Adams beat Bayard Rustin 10-7 to advance to its first-ever PSAL Baseball City Championship game. A late effort was not enough for Taft to meet them there.
Jane Adams will meet the victor of the Taft match, Queens Vo/Tech, Friday in the city championship.
Queens Vo/Tech secured its spot by defeating Taft 11-9. Taft scored four runs late in the game to take a 9-7 lead, but Queens Vo/Tech responded with three of their own to put the nail in the coffin.
