Former Manhattan College pitcher Jesse Darcy made his professional debut Saturday with the minor league Hudson Valley Renegades, but the team lost to the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Darcy, who started strong on the mound at KeySpan Park, was showing fatigue around the fifth inning. He gave up a two-run double at one point, allowing Brooklyn to take a 3-2 lead.
The Cyclones went on to beat the Renegades 6-2.
The game proved to be a good start for Darcy, despite the loss. He pitched almost five innings and had five strikeouts. He allowed five hits, three runs and a walk.
Tampa Bay recently picked Darcy in the 38th round and sent him to develop in the minors.
