A police officer is recovering and a driver is accused of dragging the cop along the street during a Bronx traffic stop Thursday.
According to authorities, the foot-patrol cop stopped the vehicle near E. 227th Street and White Plains Road around 1 a.m. Authorities say the 34-year-old man sped off, somehow dragging the officer a short distance.
The officer was able to shoot the suspect in the leg during the incident, according to officials.
Police eventually arrested the driver and his 31-year-old passenger at E. 233rd Street and the Bronx River Parkway. Officials closed two blocks of White Plains Road and part of the parkway during their investigation. Cops say they recovered heroin, crack and marijuana from the suspect's vehicle.
Charges are pending against both men.
The driver is recovering at Jacobi Medical Center and the police officer is recovering at St. Barnabas Hospital.
