Anheuser-Busch moving distribution plant to the Bronx

The beer company Anheuser-Busch is moving its distribution plant to Hunts Point -- bringing with it jobs and funding.
The company, which brews Budweiser and Bud Light among other beers, broke ground on a 168,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center Thursday.
The $400 million distribution house will create more than 100 new permanent jobs along with hundreds of temporary construction jobs. It will also be one of the first environmentally sustainable and LEED-certified buildings in the south Bronx. A LEED certification means the building meets national standards in design, construction and operation to be considered a green building.
In addition, Anheuser-Busch agreed to put more than $1 million into community projects in Hunts Point.
A spokesman from the borough president?s office says the project will be complete in about two years.
