Police are investigating a burglary at a Bronx public school Friday.
According to officials, someone broke into P.S. 89 at 980 Mace Ave. and took $10,000 worth of new audio/video equipment. Microphones, lights and a sound system were found missing. Police say someone also stole a DVD player and VCR from a teachers' lounge.
The principal says his school saved up for the equipment, which was going to be used in a production celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The students had been practicing for the performance since September.
Administrators say the show will go on. The principal is asking the community to donate money to replace the equipment. He says he wants to install security cameras since the school has been burglarized in the past.
