Prosecutors question accused child killer on confession
Prosecutors cross-examined a Bronx man Monday accused of fatally beating a 4-year-old last year.
Jose Calderon, 19, faces 25 years to life in prison for the January 2006 death of Quachaun Brown. Prosecutors questioned Calderon, charged with both murder and manslaughter, about his initial confession, which he claims was coerced out of him by police.
Brown's 11-year-old sister testified last week that she witnessed Calderon commit the crime. Calderon, meanwhile, said abuse from Alicia Smith, the victim's mother, resulted in Brown's death.
Closing arguments are scheduled for Tuesday.
