Orchard Beach was a sea of pink Sunday as thousands walked along the waterfront to raise money for research.
Survivors, their supporters and even their pets participated in the 5K Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Participants emphasized the importance of getting annual mammograms and remaining diligent in the face of the disease.
Donations from the walk will go to research, support and educational programs in the Bronx. Free screenings from the American Cancer Society are also available for Bronx women.
