College grows 'green collar' construction workers
A Bronx Community College program is training today's construction workers on tomorrow's "green" building methods.
Project H.I.R.E., or Help in Re-entering Employment, has teamed up with the Center for Sustainable Energy ? both located on the campus ? to create an environmentally friendly curriculum.
Under Project H.I.R.E., students learn about different building materials, such as energy-efficient insulators and bamboo flooring.
According to findings of a recent report, thousands of "green collar" jobs will soon be available in the New York City area.
