14 Bronx schools find their way on 'improvement' list

Fourteen Bronx middle and elementary schools were added to the state's "In Need of Improvement" list Thursday, while some found their way off the list.
More than 400 schools whose students failed to make the grade in standardized math and English tests under the No Child Left Behind Act comprise the list.
The Bronx schools that were removed from the list include P.S. 20, I.S. 180, P.S. 160 and P.S. 83.
Schools on the list will receive additional funding to improve achievement. Administrators must also implement plans to change course. Eligible students will receive supplemental educational services.
Schools that fail to make the cut under improvement plans face restructuring or the possibility of being phased out of the system.
