Report: Bronx kids don't get enough physical education
A new report issued Thursday says that thousands of Bronx grade school students are not getting enough exercise. Parents and principals are not surprised about the ?More than Child?s Play? report. Many say a change is needed to help the children. To alleviate the problem, Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. is demanding more money from the Department of Education. One health expert says that more money in the schools may not be the answer. She says that there are still issues of overcrowding and little facility space. Some feel having teachers include physical education in the classrooms or initiating innovative after-school programs may be the answer to the growing problem.
