DOT reopens ramp leading onto Thruway
The Department of Transportation has reopened a ramp allowing riders to get onto the New England Thruway from Pelham Parkway in hopes that it will alleviate some of the traffic jams in the Pelham Bay neighborhood.
Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), a proponent of the reopening, said that now that there are two entrances leading onto the New England Thruway, traveling to City Island and Co-op City should be quicker and easier, but residents see it differently.
One rider said that the ramp might not make a difference citing that most of the traffic occurs near the Pelham Bay Station, while another said that the closed ramp allowed pedestrians to walk freely in the area.
