Bloomberg's term limit bill reviewed by city council

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg?s term limit proposal was reviewed by the city council Tuesday.
There is no official legislation that would prevent Bloomberg?s effort to make the change. Some lawmakers who oppose his plan have introduced a bill that would require any term limit change to be enacted by voter referendum.
?I think term limits have always been undemocratic,? Councilman Joel Rivera says. ?It doesn't allow people in the Bronx or New York City to vote for the person they see fit to run for office. It's a system that has been flawed, and it has not worked in many municipalities.?
The city council is expected to vote on Bloomberg?s bill Oct. 23.
