Brutal dog attack leaves woman in hospital
A pregnant woman was saved from a vicious dog attack Monday morning by a Good Samaritan and an NYPD transit officer.
The woman, who is now hospitalized at St. Barnabas Hospital, was selling newspapers in front of the Twin Donut on E. Tremont Street when a large brown dog attacked her. Johnny Hernandez witnessed the incident and came to her aid, pinning the dog on the ground. A transit officer also tried to help and was bitten on the thumb. The officer then shot and killed the dog.
The dog was reportedly seen in the neighborhood without a collar or leash.
