? Hundreds of family members and friends gathered Wednesday to remember their loved ones who died seven years ago when Flight 587 crashed in Belle Harbor, Queens just two minutes after takeoff.

A memorial to honor the 265 lives lost in the plane crash stands in Belle Harbor, where mourners gathered for a ceremony where their loved ones? names were read aloud. Family members say they think about their lost loved ones every single day, but that gathering together on the anniversary of the accident helps them pay tribute.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg attended the memorial service and spoke about the loss the city continues to feel as a result of the tragic accident.

The flight was headed toward the Dominican Republic on Nov. 12, 2001 when it crashed. A memorial service was also held nearly 1,500 miles away in the Dominican Republic.
