Police say a Throgs Neck man is accused of stabbing his wife to death Friday night.

Bolivar Gil is in police custody and is charged with murder in the second degree, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon after stabbing his wife to death in their second floor apartment at 2986 Lawton Ave.

Neighbors say Gil murdered his wife and tried to flee, but was stopped by his distraught son. According to residents in the area, the neighborhood is quiet and safe, and the crime comes as a complete shock.
